"I help my clients build capacity to listen, learn, and lead."
Sarah Cohn is a consultant, facilitator and evaluator who is devoted to fostering greater cultural competence and responsiveness in the communities she works in.
Sarah is compassionate, curious and relational and believes one of her greatest contributions to clients is in her role as a facilitator of nuanced conversations. It is through this lens that she supports individuals and teams in deep listening, reflection and dialogue as they prepare to take steps toward change.
Sarah is a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory—a tool she uses to support leaders in establishing practices that advance social justice issues. In both her personal and professional work, Sarah aims to advance equity and racial and climate justice through intentional relationship, partnership and network building.
Sarah co-developed Team-Based Inquiry, a practitioner-focused form of evaluation, co-writing Team-based inquiry: A practical guide for using evaluation to improve informal education experiences. Since 2012, Sarah has been training organizations of all kinds in integrating Team-Based Inquiry, including the Natural History Museum of Utah, Sciencenter, Mankato Symphony, and the Detroit Zoological Society.
From 2009 to 2014, Sarah managed the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Evaluation and Research in Learning Department, one of the largest museum evaluation and research departments in the country. She left the museum in 2016 to engage more organizations in audience research, evaluation, facilitation, and strategic planning.
Sarah holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bowdoin College and an M.A. from the University of Minnesota in Park, Recreation and Leisure Studies. She has been a board chair for the Minnesota Evaluation Association and One Voice Mixed Chorus. In her work as a consultant, Sarah has supported a variety of organizations from the Women’s Health Center to Minnesota Freedom Fund to American Alliance of Museums.
